In Phases | Presented by Sculpture Society (Singapore) As part of the Singapore Art Show 2007 Exhibition Date: 14th Sept – 30th Sept event Venue: Fort Canning Centre & Fort Canning Park Sculpture Society is excited to be involved in Singapore Art Show 2007! This year, the Society celebrates the art of woodcarving in Singapore with In Phases, focusing on three key events. Firstly, a retrospective, featuring wood sculptures by Wee Kong Chai. One of the realist artists of Singapore, Wee has been practising wood carving for more than three decades! Next, an exhibition of some fourteen wood sculptures carved by 6 International artists & 8 Local Artists over the duration of 1st Singapore International Woodcarving Symposium (17– 24 June). As the process of carving was deemed completed, the final wood works regained liveliness and sets it aura amongst the various locations of Fort Canning. How are the works? It’s calling out for visitors! Together with NParks, a treasure hunt / sculpture trail was mapped out for visitors and schools to explore and experience the beauty of Fort Canning Park and its resident sculptures In Progress! To top it off, a photograph exhibition The Moments, that documents the symposium itself. In addition, a talk & a workshop will also be conducted in the period of the event. More details are attached.
